Pueblo Canario - Museo Néstor
Another visitors’ attraction of the Parque Doramas is the Pueblo Canario (Canary Village), a complex of several traditionally built island houses forming a typical Canary village with gates, turrets and an atrium.
Designed in the 1930s by the brothers Néstor and Miguel Fernandez de la Torre to interest tourists in island culture, this village boasts a large central square, surrounded by shops selling local handicrafts, where often folklore shows take place.
The Museo Néstor, dedicated to life and works of the better known of the two brothers, is also part of this complex. Opened in 1958, this museum exhibits a multitude of this versatile artist’s works including sketches, still lifes, sensuous and symbolic paintings, highlights of which are eight murals illustrating his ‘Poema del Mar’ and another series of paintings to ‘Visiones de Gran Canaria’.
