Getting from the airport

Gran Canaria is a popular holiday destination for many reasons. 2.2 million tourists from all over the world visit this wonderful ‘miniature continent’ every year.  As you would expect, Gran Canaria is fully prepared and geared towards tourism. Good transport facilities are a key factor. The first thing you need to know after landing on Gran Canaria is how to get to your hotel or resort, unless you have pre-arranged a transfer as part of your package. Here are some of your best options:

Strawberry World® Transfers: Our convenient and stress-free transfer service guarantees peace of mind. A representative will welcome you at the airport and drive you directly to your hotel. This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it .

Car hire: Car rental prices on the Canary Islands are considerably lower than in mainland Spain. Generally, you will get a better price if you book in advance. Internet bookings are probably the most competitively priced. For low cost car rentals, check out Strawberry Autos to find a wide range of hire cars and get an instant quote.

Gran Canaria Taxi: There are taxis available at the airport. Just look for off white cars with a blue stripe on the sides of each front door. Other signs that might help you recognise a taxi are the letters SP (meaning Servicio Público) and a green light on top or in the front windscreen (which indicates that the taxi is empty). This is the quickest but most expensive option. Costs vary according to your final destination.

Bus: There are frequent bus services between the airport and most of the resorts on the island. The journey to Las Palmas (in the north) takes around 35 minutes while a bus ride to Playa del Inglés (in the south) will take around half an hour.
