Located 18 km south of Las Palmas, Gran Canaria Airport opened in 1930. Nowadays, it is one of the busiest airports in Spain, operating with several companies and destinations. It is estimated that, for example, in 2014, this airport has handled over 10 million passengers!
Currently with two terminals, this airport is considered one of the safest in the world and, given the island’s good weather conditions, it is open 24 hours a day, all year round, offering all the amenities you need, such as information desks.
This infrastructure is located 25 km from the tourist area of Gran Canaria (south zone) and 18 km from the capital, Las Palmas. The first thing you need to know after landing on Gran Canaria is how to get to your hotel or resort. From this airport you can go to any part of the island, since there are connections to different types of transport and services, such as buses, taxis, transfers and car rental.

If you choose to have your own vehicle, car rental prices on the Canary Islands are considerably lower than in mainland Spain. Just look for off-white cars with a blue stripe on the sides of each front door. Other signs that might help you recognise a taxi are the letters SP (meaning Servicio Público) and a green light on top or in the front windscreen (which indicates that the taxi is empty). This is the quickest but most expensive option, and costs vary according to your final destination. There are frequent bus services between the airport and most of the resorts on the island. The journey to Las Palmas (in the north) takes around 35 minutes, while a bus ride to Playa del Inglés (in the south) will take around half an hour.

Gran Canaria Airport has restaurants and cafes, ATMs, an amusement area for children, public telephones, free wifi, post office, currency exchange, conference rooms, lost and found area, medical services, pharmacies and shops (jewellery, tobacco stores, newspapers, perfumes, toys, clothing, etc.).
People with reduced mobility
In compliance with all airports in Europe, Gran Canaria Airport meets all the conditions for people with special needs, with a free assistance service. However, if special assistance is required, it is advisable to book it in advance with the airline. Facilities also include ramps, adapted elevators and parking spaces reserved for people with reduced mobility.
Luggage
This airport offers all the necessary services in the event of loss (Lost and Found), destruction or delay of checked baggage.

Parking
The airport has two parking areas: one with a capacity of almost 1,500 vehicles, with a competitive price, located right next to the terminal and for short-term stays, and another for long-term parking, the ideal option for anyone going on holidays and needing a place to leave their vehicle.
Travelling from the airport to your destination by Bus
To and from the airport, lines 1, 5, 11, 36, 60, 66, 90 and 91, from ‘Global’ company, have several timetables. Line 1 travels between Las Palmas and Puerto de Mogán. A trip from the airport to Las Palmas costs €2.30, and from the airport to Puerto de Mogán costs €6.80. Line 5 connects Las Palmas to Faro de Maspalomas, with a trip from the airport to Faro de Maspalomas costing €4.05. Line 11 connects Las Palmas and Aguimes, and a trip between the airport and Aguimes has a cost of €1.40. With line 36, from Faro de Maspalomas to Telde, a trip from the airport to Telde has a cost of €1.45. In line 60, from Las Palmas to the airport, the trip costs €2.30. Line 66 connects Faro de Maspalomas to the airport (and vice versa), line 90 links Faro de Maspalomas to Telde, and line 91 makes the connection between Las Palmas and Playa del Cura. A trip between the airport and Patalavaca costs €5.25, and between the airport and Arguineguín has a cost of €4.95.
Travelling from the airport to your destination by Taxi
When leaving the airport, you will immediately find a taxi. The trip to Las Palmas costs around €30. A surcharge is added to overnight trips (between 22pm and 6am).
