Located in the Atlantic Ocean off the northwest coast of Africa, Gran Canaria enjoys a sub-tropical climate that promises great weather all year round. It has a population of approximately 820,000 (almost half of which live in the capital Las Palmas) and a total area of 1,560 sq. km. It is of volcanic origin and remains one of Spain’s most popular holiday destinations.

At Spain-Grancanaria we believe in the old adage, knowledge is power. The more information you have the more prepared you are. It’s our job to arm you with all the facts you’ll need to make sure that you get the best from your holiday and avoid the dramas.

We understand that you may have questions and here you’ll find the answers. Whether you want to know how to get to the airport, how to find tourist information offices or simply what kind of stuff to bring – you’ll find it on our pages. And should you wish to speak the language while you’re away, check out our translation tips and glossary of key Spanish words.

If you do need a little extra help and guidance we have all the facts about medical care, insurances and emergency numbers which you are welcome to print off and take with you, just in case.
