Las Canteras

Playa de las Canteras is a 3km-long cove of yellowish-brownish sand with a natural reef – called La Barra, which is about 200 metres long and located some hundred metres off the beach – turning this stretch of beach into a wonderful lagoon with temperate waters making bathing a pleasure for swimmers or non-swimmers alike all year round. This beach also offers ideal conditions for all kinds of water sports.

The bustling Paseo de las Canteras promenade with a constant parade of people – tourists in beach gear, street entertainers and traders, more formally dressed local working people – runs along the beach lined with many shops, open-air restaurants, snack bars and cafés.

South of Playa de las Canteras, where the natural rock barrier finishes, the waves come crashing in with no impediment, making this part of the beach, also known as La Cicer, an El Dorado for surfers. This area is also full of shops selling all kinds of water sports equipment and accessories, along with surf schools for the absolute beginners upwards.
