San Agustín, one of the island’s first resorts, is a peaceful destination with a lovely long beach and home to the prestigious Hotel Meliá Tamarindos. This hotel houses the first casino to be built in the south of the island and is surrounded by manicured gardens that lead down to the beach. The nearby Gloria Palace San Agustín Thalasso & Hotel boasts the best thalassotherapy centre in Gran Canaria.
The adjoining resort of Playa del Inglés, the most well-known in Gran Canaria, is the most animated in the south of the island. Hotel Neptuno enjoys a central location near the Hard Rock Café, the Kasbah shopping centre and the popular gay venue, the Yumbo Centrum. Puerto Rico and Amadores have sheltered, golden-sand beaches.
