Playa de las Alcaravaneras is a beach located in the capital city of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria. Finding the perfect spot to relax on this stretch of golden sand is easy, no matter what day of the week you visit.

If you are feeling energetic, why not have a game of beach volleyball? Usually the water here is very placid so it’s a great place for activities like sailing and canoeing. Kiosks sell refreshments and there is a good selection of cafés and bars nearby.  Also, there are sunbeds and showers on the beach.

South of the beach is the Varadero Sailing Club and to the north is the chic Real Club Náutico (Royal Sailing Club), where you are guaranteed to spot some glamorous ocean-going yachts and maybe a millionaire or two.

Avenida Marítima is the place to go for a jog, bike ride or a long stroll as it runs the district of Vegueta to the peninsula of La Isleta.
Buses travel to Playa de las Alcaravaneras frequently from most of the major resorts and are cheap and reliable. Follow signs for car parks which are relatively inexpensive.

If this beach in a superb city location is what you are looking for, Spain-Grancanaria suggests a stay in the luxurious Hotel Santa Catalina. A complimentary shuttle service runs from the hotel to nearby Playa de las Canteras, a beautiful beach of pristine water which neighbours Playa de las Alcaravaneras.
