When it comes to Gran Canaria, it’s impossible not to think of the beach, lots of beach. This island has some of Europe's most beautiful beaches, either sandy or pebble, all different but all equal when it comes to the best conditions, fun and sun. Whether you are looking for more crowded and lively beaches or more family or secluded beaches, it's easy to find those best suited to you.

With excellent weather conditions throughout the year, in Gran Canaria you can practise several sports, especially sea sports, as bodyboarding, surfing or water skiing. If you prefer to have your feet (well) on the ground, you always have the possibility of playing golf, horseback riding and hiking or, if you would like something more extreme, climbing!

Due to lower taxes, Gran Canaria is synonymous with shopping! From clothing stores and brand accessories to commercial areas selling electronic products, in Gran Canaria there is everything, not to mention the many shopping centres that exist there, where you can find good prices, good brands and quality!

Of course you should also try local cuisine in the huge variety of existing restaurants, a great hobby for people who like to taste traditional recipes. In Gran Canaria, the traditional cuisine of Spanish origin merges with African and Latin American influences. Don’t miss it!

On this island, there are several museums and very interesting cultural centres, especially in Las Palmas, as well as various events throughout the year, many of which are international, such as the Las Palmas de Gran Canaria International Film Festival.

And, at the end of a day full of discovery and adventure around the island, there is nothing like experiencing the very famous nightlife of Gran Canaria, all night long! Here, you’ll find discos, pubs, nightclubs and bars for every taste, some with live music performances. However, if you prefer quieter environments or, if you like to gamble, there are two casinos on the island, one in Las Palmas and one in San Agustín.

As you can see, in Gran Canaria there are all sorts of things to do and have a good time. Just browse our guide and discover – enjoy and have fun!
