During this summer, at least 300 hotels and restaurants in Gran Canaria will train their employees to know the basic maneuvers in case someone is choking. The campaign called ‘SOS Respira’ (SOS Breathe), that has already been developed in Tenerife, has the same objective in Gran Canaria, which is to ensure that most of the island's catering establishments have a staff member who can act if someone is choking.

For this campaign Fundación Mapfre Guanarteme collaborates with SEMES and with Federación de Cocineros y Reposteros de España (FACYRE), as it intends to reach the largest number of restaurants in the country, either with training in the establishments or through the ‘SOS Respira’ mobile app, which gives the guidelines on how to act correctly and has already been downloaded by 3,600 people.
