During two weeks, from 9 to 25 June 2017, the celebrations of the 539th anniversary of the foundation of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria offer a varied programme for both locals and tourists that includes music, exhibitions, shows, theatre and gastronomy.

One of the world’s best urban beaches, Las Canteras, will be the stage of Saint John's Eve, on the night of 23 June — family and friends have fun with traditional games, groups of Canarian music (parrandas) play until midnight and that is when people go into the sea to enjoy the fireworks.

In other areas of the capital of Gran Canaria, particularly in Los Riscos, bonfires make this night even more magical, and in Saulo Torón Square people may watch the performances of Viltown, Neo Pinto y Mondo Diávolo.
